Fremantle is more like a suburb of Perth, but technically it’s a town in its own right and certainly different enough to deserve it’s own write-up. Going there is like a mini holiday by the sea, complete with amusement park, a pier with some of the best fish&chip shops (maybe this one, maybe another one – they all claim to be the best) in the state and one of the coolest breweries in the country.
On my second trip to Fremantle, I finally got to do the Little Creatures brewery tour, which was free and highly entertaining, thanks in no small part to our lovely tour guide. It also led to me having three beers before lunch and acting embarassingly drunk around the late, great Bon Scott and later becoming overly fascinated with the contents of a fish tank. Sorry, Freo, no one should give me beer on an empty stomach…
